What are we doing?
Over the next two years, CustomerFirst is:
- Delivering radical improvements to high-impact, priority services – quicker journeys, fewer failure points, modernised casework
- Developing a new approach to delivering change in government, free from legacy constraints
- Building reusable tools, patterns and lessons that other departments can adopt
Departments across government are already improving services, but some of the biggest challenges need a different approach. CustomerFirst brings together expert teams, fresh thinking and the ability to try new ways of working at pace.

Who are we looking for?
We need innovative experts who share our passion for making a real difference, driven by improving the quality of people’s lives through the services they use.
We’re looking for critical thinkers and disruptors, who love tackling large scale, complex problems. Able to effectively combine technical skills, strategic and tactical thinking ability, and a deep understanding of users and customer insight.
Over the next year, we’ll grow quickly, building elite delivery squads empowered to lead end-to-end transformation programmes across government.
As we’re in ‘startup’ mode and building our teams, you’ll also be getting stuck into designing and developing our solution.
We’re starting by looking for critical leadership hires, including:
- Leads in Product
- Leads in Service Design
- Leads in Architecture and Engineering

Application process
Our recruitment process will launch in February 2026
The recruitment process will consist of 4 stages:
- Submitting a CV and answering questions about why you’re interested in our mission and what you bring to the team
- Completing a practical technical task to showcase your abilities and demonstrate your skills
- A behaviour and experience-based interview with members of the team
- A final stage interview with members of our Senior Leadership Team aimed at assessing mission and value fit
